*sung* Called to serve Him heavenly king of glory! *sung*

Today around 2:00 Jamie Lynn sent out a message to all of us that Whitney's mission call had come in the mail! Around 3:15 I decided that maybe we should just make a quick run out to Grantsville to be there when she opened it. So Cassie, Harlee and I headed out at 3:45 and got there a little after 5:00. Whit didn't get off work until 6:00 so we got there and surprised my mom (I had given Jamie a head's up to watch out for us,) and then we all ate dinner. As soon as Whit got home (she was surprised too!) she ran to her room to get out of her work cloths then we all gathered in the family room to hear the exciting news. Mom called Dad and I called Jeremy so they would be "there" too.
Drum roll please!................................... Sister Tavia Whitney Wilcox has been called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Jackson, Mississippi!! We all cried because the importance of this call is written in the letter they send and it really hit us all as she read it. I recorded what i could of it and will post it on here when I find my camera! But I just wanted to say congratulations to my sister and tell her how proud I am of her for making the decision to forget herself and do The Lord's work. She will be great!!

Remember to also check Tavia's (Whitney's) blog to read her version of the story!! http://www.songsofanivoryheart.blogspot.com/

P.S. I just realized whitney alredy posted on this blog too so go ahead and take a look under this post for her's. LOL

EVERYONE!!!! LISTEN UP!!!!!! I GOT MY MISSION CALL, AND......I AM GOING TO THE MISSISSIPPI JACKSON MISSION. I WILL LEAVE TO THE MTC ON MARCH 18TH. I AM SO SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

New recipe!!!

I Just wanted to give you all my new favorite recipe!

Cuban Black-Bean Stew with Rice
1 1/2 cups long-grain white rice
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 medium red onion, chopped
1 Garlic clove, minced
1 red Bell Pepper Chopped
2 cans (19 oz each) black beans, rinse and drained
1 can (14.5 ounces) vegetable broth
1 Tablespoon cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
coarse salt and ground pepper
garnish- lime wedges fresh cilantro and sliced radishes

Prepare rice
heat oil in a large saucepan over medium.
Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper.
Cook stirring occasionally, until onion is softened.

Add beans, broth, vinegar, and oregano.
Cook, mashing some beans with the back of the spoon, until slightly thickened.
Season with salt and pepper.
Serve beans over rice, with garnishes if desired.

I hope you all like this! It's my new favorite thing to make! I cook my own beans so I mash about 1/2 cup and put them in it makes it nice and thick. I cook cilantro and green chilies with my rice! I don't usually use the garnishes!
enjoy!!!
